Report on the Volupides Case

Report on the Volupides Case

To the Chief of Investigation,
Ms. Megan Hoddinott

At 1.10 am, 16th of october 1997, a call from Jasmeen Boulevard, house number 12, Cikarang, East side of Bekasi, Indonesia, named Queenie Volupides that there was an accident involving her husband, named Arthur Volupides and claiming that he passed away because of an accident.

We arrived at Queenie Volupides house at 1.45, 35 minutes after the call. We found out that Arthur’s body was lying at the bottom of the stairs, facing up. With a glass in his hand facing up, wearing tuxedo and a robe. Queenie was standing beside Arthur with a terrified face. We also found out that the stove was on and food was being cooked.

We asked Queenie about what happened and she claimed that, Queenie’s friends got to the Volupides house to get another drink after they went to the country club. They arrived about ten minutes after Queenie. Queenie met them at the door and finally she said, “Something terrible happened. Arthur slipped and fell on the stairs. He was coming down for another drink - he still had the glass in his hand - and I think he’s dead. Oh, my God - what shall I do?”

The autopsy conducted later concluded that Arthur had died from a wound on the head and confirmed that he’d been drunk.

We’ve found a lot of evidence that doesn’t supports Queenie’s answer. The first one, she said that “he still had the glass in his hand”. As a rule, when a person falls down holding a fragile object, usually the object will break. The glass in his hand’s still in a good condition, and we think it doesn’t supports Queenie's answer. Second, the glass is also still in Arthur’s hand. When you fall, usually you let go of what you’re holding and try to grab something near to hold on to. Third, the stove is on. When people cook, usually they cook at normal times, not during midnight.

Fourth, the objects on the wall aren’t misplaced. When people fall down, usually they will try to grab hold of something reachable. Fifth, the carpet on the stairs is not messed up. When people fall down the stairs (carpet covered), usually the carpet will get messed up. The carpet’s still in a perfect condition. Sixth, there are no paramedics present. When a person finds someone who needs help, usually they’ll call for help. The last one, Arthur’s lying up on his back with face-up. When people fall running down the stairs, they usually fall and land ck of the face-first.

The conclusion and recommendation for is that the police or paramedics should research more on this case. Because we think what Queenie said doesn’t support the evidence, so we think she’s lying. We really need to investigate more.

We speculate that Queenie is not telling the truth. Back to the evidences, someone is not cooking in a normal time. Queenie could possibly hit Arthur with the back of the cooking pan while Arthur was going up, because hitting someone with a pan won’t cause someone to bleed except to give them a wound. From this speculating, we can tell one thing, that Queenie was cooking to hide the mark at the back of the pan. Then, she could put the glass on his hand and say that he went for another drink. Arthur was wearing a tux and a robe, it is possible that they were both going to the country club. These speculations are just temporary, we, as the investigators of this case will look for more clues and reveal the real condition.

Do Uniforms Make Any Better?

Do uniforms make any better? Personally, I don’t think it does. I am against wearing a school uniform in Sekolah Victory Plus. There are many pros and cons about using a uniform. When we face other opinions that doesn’t matches ours, we tend to think, “But it’s not logical, it will always be like..”. And that is how our brain works. At first, we don’t understand why would someone have his way of thinking, but when we learn about him, we understand; we might also have the same way of thinking.

First of all, I think not wearing a school uniform might be a good idea, because we can express our identity, because I think, usually if you have the same kind of clothes as someone, that person could possibly have the same interest as yours, because in my opinion, you are what you have. From the past 14 years, I haven’t seemed to find someone with a sophisticated look, with a soul that is rebellious. They tend to be quiet, classy and fabulous.

But Velda, what if it’s inappropriate, surely the head of school would disagree, but I think, teenagers would be happy to know that they got to wear free clothes with rules than having a uniform with no rules. Because some people dislike the way their uniform look, they will push the boundaries, they would pull up their skirts so people can see their thighs, they would unbutton some buttons to create a V-neck collar and I think it’s such a disrespectful attitude to use uniform with other usage, uniforms are supposed to be tidy and clean, but some people use it as an inappropriate kind of way. It would embarrass the school’s name and our name. But if we use our own clothes, they’d just see us, and if it were the way we dress, it’d be fine because it’d our fault either way, because we it’s our decision.

Second of all, it’s about equality. Blazer, white shirt, cottoned shirt, a vest. What’s the first thing that comes into your mind? Luxury clothes from an expensive school with high education of English and western students. Blue skirt with rough fabric and a white shirt. What’s the first thing that comes into your mind? National school and local students. I believe that human will never be satisfied, ever. They will always see what’s above them, and they have a will to be “it”. But again, what if the school would implement a rule to not have a brand name on their clothing? So that means no “Love Pink” shirt, no this “Check” Nike and etc.

There are still a lot of pros and cons that I would like to talk about, but the time is right behind me and it will catch me any minute. But from these paragraphs, we can conclude that Uniforms are not going to make any better because of equality and inappropriate ways of using uniforms. But I think, what’s even better is to combine the school uniform with free clothes. With one condition, plaid and patterns are a “No, No” since they’re not going to be able to match with other patterns if we happen to wear a clothing with another clothing with a pattern on it. So it should be bold and black, white or brown, because they’re the basic colors that will match any patterns and any colors. I really appreciate for the one who took their time on reading my boring essay. I really hope that you will have a great year. Because “a day” is too mainstream.

What I Have Learned.

From week to week, I've been doing posts about my weekend, my experiences and the things I wore that day. But the big question is:

"How Can We Use Blogs To Explore New Ideas, Opinions &
Interact With The World Around Us?"

First thing, why did someone invented a "Blog"? In my opinion, I think it's because every person in this world has their own talent, their own journey. But it's called a "Diary", Velda. Well, a diary is a personal book that you, yourself is the only human being who can read it, no one else. But somehow, we need to get the standard higher a little bit. I think blog is one of the best thing that people have invented, it is our digital portfolio of what we can do, to share our experiences if we're afraid to tell people about it, and also, we can't just tell people about we can do. It's called bragging.

With blogging, we can basically meet other people around the world that could possibly have the same hobbies like us and we can build connections with them. I believe that everybody is not perfect, but we can learn from them to be a better person. But again, we have to find people to be followed, even if it's not the same kind of blog like ours, because we need to have ideas in our heads, not just being that one person who talk about the same thing for the whole year. We'd be the 'typical' kind of person, predictable. I believe that if we are open-minded to other opinions and interacting with each other will lead us to be a better person. It's okay to make white lies, we can not just tell people that their blog is boring, what do you feel when someone else insults your blog?

In movies, we can basically see blogs everywhere, people write about their day and what they feel on their blogs, and I think blog would be more developed. People will start using blogs instead of papers and diaries for work purposes and feedbacks to the companies. Because nowadays, it would be lame for a company to have everything but a website. And usually, to build a website, you'll need money, but what if you don't have much money enough to build a website? You use blogs. I really enjoy blogging, It's the most fun activity that I have learned in English. The teacher is so nice and so cool, she knows about modernity, she's a positive person and a very good influence to all people. I feel so lucky to have her as my homeroom teacher + English teacher. I really hope she can stay in our school until we all wear our high school graduation cap.

I think we can learn a lot from blogging. Experiences, passion, communication and it can lead us to be a better person. When somebody comment your blog, liking your blog enough to comment on a post, we will have that spirit and energy in our body that can make us feel good about ourselves. Wow, somebody likes what I'm doing. We can basically learn to be a good presenter by giving words that can make people build interest to what we're doing. Because I think people have the motivation to change their personality, their passion and their hobbies. The more they know about what we're doing, why it's exciting, they will soon be influenced by us because I think society can change the characteristic and behavior of a person. We adapt to all things. So I think blogging is a home to all people with different characteristics. Because blogging is for all ages, all genders and all personalities.

"Get Lucky" (1920 - Present)

There are two types of people in these world; people that only enjoy the product without knowing the process and people that enjoy the product and learn about the background. But I believe that all people in Victory Plus School is the second type of people. The song "Get Lucky" is originated from Paris. So the word 'Projet' is not a spelling mistake. From year to year, they made a remake of this song, each year, the beat gets faster. And in 2013, Daft Punk (a French electronic music duo) did a remake, and the song became popular.

The reason I am posting this is because I really enjoy this song. I realized that this post does not match the genre of my blog, but again it's music. I love this song, it's not so electronic-y, because all of Daft Punk's songs has electronic beat in them. And I was thinking to myself, this isn't just a song, the song has got history. And this history has made my whole day of my typical Sunday.

Thanks for spending 49 seconds of your life.

'Jadul' Night.

I bet the first reason to scroll down on this post is that you want more explanation on the word Jadul. Jadul is the abbreviation of 'Jaman Dulu'. More explanation for that? Okay. So now if you're about to open another tab to open 'translate.google.com', hold right there. How does she know that?   "Jaman Dulu" means it's about the old days, the earlier times, the ancient days. But now, you may ask your parents about these amazing grandfathers. They're legends! Most of the people said that it's the Indonesian version of... The Beatles. This might sound crazy to all of you who adore The Beatles, but they really do sound like them and they got amazing music, they started rocking out the year from 1960. They were so popular for 10 years around our parents back when they were teenagers. So at first,  some bands were playing their song, it was actually the tribute night for them, but then they showed up and everybody started screaming. But speaking of 'everybody', let's get into the part where the word remind me of the condition last night. It was held in an open area, it was so crowded, I literally needed to wait for a half an hour to get a table for my mother and my dad, since my brother went to meet up with his friends somewhere.

And then, we got a table near the restaurant, that has ceiling above us. A few minutes later, it started raining. We were so lucky because the sky didn't spread his tears to us. Then everything went so well, my parents were singing along, so many women were dancing along. And then I needed to go to the bathroom. While I was on my way there, I met those two legendary singers at the 'backstage'. They don't really have a backstage but yeah, it was somewhere next to the entrance of the mall, taking a break. People were taking pictures of them so I took my phone out of my phone and took their pictures. My parents were so happy I got them. In the middle of their concert, a man gave us a big envelope with stickers of Indonesia inside them. It was really nice of them to give the envelope to their fans as a gift for coming. After a few hours of waiting for the concert to be over, my father asked my brother to get the car in the basement, and pick them up. I joined my brother, we had no idea about the map of this place, then my brother proceed to the exit gate. We were horrified because it took 20 minutes to 'walk' around with our car and my father took the ticket of the entrance. So then my brother had to give his driving license to the ticket woman and he had to pay for it. He just simply said "I lost the ticket". But then we finally found our parents and it was the best night of the week.

P.S I'm not posting anything about my outfit at the moment because it was late at night and I couldn't find someone to take pictures of me because all of them are busy. Including my dog, and we went home at 11 pm. But I was wearing a leather jacket, this dress that makes me look like an emo person. TTYS.

Darth Vader Goes To Church!

Hi everybody! How are you all doing today? I hope you're doing great because I think there's no reason to be upset for, it's the beginning of the week! But anyway, this is a new post of mine. But first of all, I'm sorry that I couldn't post the complete outfit and I couldn't take pictures of the things that I saw the other day because at that day, I just wanted to relax and not bring my camera everywhere and also, usually the woman behind the camera is my mother, but yesterday she was kind of busy and I think it's very rude to get her to stop what she's doing just to take pictures of her daughter. So I managed to take pictures of myself! Which is kind of cheesy but it's okay, I just feel like doing it.

So yesterday, I went to church in another fabulous mall in Jakarta, Senayan City. I think their Sunday service is great, the place is very big and it has a big screen on the top to see the preacher speaking. The message that he delivered was great. So then I had my lunch in a ramen restaurant called "San Pa Chi". I heard that people likes it, but personally, I don't think their ramen are the best, because they're sometimes too spicy or too salty. And then, I went to Tangerang to visit my brother's dorm room and the place was great, their services are very nice and the owner of the house was so nice. Then, I had this Taiwan mocha, after such a long time. I think Taiwan have the best mochi and I really enjoyed the green tea and the green bean flavor. It took literally 2 hours to go back home and I arrived at 6:45 am. Then after that, I was learning Mandarin because I'm going to have a Mandarin test tomorrow. To end this post, I just want to thank the people who have been commenting on my posts, I think it's very sweet of you to stopped by and just cheer me up. Thank you, folks.

Outfit details- White shirt (My mom bought it for me), Darth Vader's cardigan (Bandung), Jeans (Fake Paris Hilton jeans), Kiwi bird necklace (NZ's Souvenir shop), shoulder bag (ASOS).

Out & About! ❁

Hi,  everyone! On the 7th of September, 2013, I think it was the best day of the week so far. Because after such a long time, I finally got to go somewhere and just hang out, the school finally gave me less home work in the weekend and I could feel that it's such a fabulous weekend for everybody. So my mother, my brother and I have been planning to attend to this Jak-Japan Matsuri event, which is the relation between Jakarta and Japan. It took 2 hours for my brother to drive from my house to Plaza Senayan. I think that Plaza Senayan is the most fabulous mall for girls to just relax and be happy. They got an amazing bookstore, Victoria's Secret, nice cafes and great shops. One problem, their stuffs are expensive. But I'm in love with people who just use what they already have and embrace them, because when you always live in Victoria Beckham's house, got Vera Wang designer clothes, and sit inside the Bugatti, if one day you're going to broke, you would feel so depressed about it.

Anyway, I was so happy that 'the day' is today! I literally double my steps to find the place, but then I saw this festival that was held on the stage (open area). I was kind of disappointed because at first, I thought we would all walk in this amazing gallery, and I was thinking like, Oh My God, are we going to go back to Bekasi again and I'd have no good topic to write about. But then I walked around, and I found stands! I'm so sorry that I couldn't zoom in into the writings, but they were in Indonesian anyway, and I'm sorry that one picture is blurry, because I needed to literally run to get to my car, but as you can see, those are the cute little kids who were about to go to the stage to perform their percussion performance. So we finally decided to go to LOTTE Shopping Avenue, which is my new favorite place. I was so happy that I could finally shop in Uniqlo, but then some of the air conditioners were not working so we needed some air and we got out of the place and they did not have the best clothes at the moment. But let's talk about Uniqlo for a second. Uniqlo is this Japanese casual wear, they basically sell everything that are related to clothes, accessories, shoes, underwear, slippers, pajamas and etc. They're really simple but I'm so in love with the fabric! Uniqlo is totally recommended for everyone.

And then, my mother was starving and we were thinking of pancakes. So then we found this restaurant called "Pancious". So it's basically a restaurant with different kinds of pancakes as their menus, they got pancakes with beefs, eggs and fruits. They also got waffles, and other fruity drinks. They got the most delicious pancakes I have ever tasted in my whole life. So if you're wondering about the picture of me and a boy, he's the waiter  my brother. He looked so grumpy in the picture, but actually he's a friendly guy in real life. One of the best thing form Pancious is that we always get something every time we get our bills. A month ago, I got this white pocket bag holder with 'Pancious' writing on it, and now I got a lollipop which was so nice, I love lollipops. After that, we just walked around and finally, we got back into our car and we finally got back to Bekasi. I think it was such an amazing day, even if it wasn't what I expected, but at least I got my lesson from it. There's no way that trying something is wrong, because even if it turns out wrong, at least we got something from it, we now got the lesson, because it is something bad, we shouldn't try it anymore, and it's good to find out sooner than later. We do what we can, while we can do it.

Outfit Details- Pink sweater (my mom's wardrobe), black skirt (Bandung), heart necklace (Accesorize), flower ring (Accesorize), flat shoes (Everbest), leaf earrings (Mangga 2 Square), black leather shoulder bag (Charles & Keith).

My Personal Hobby.

So as you can tell, these are just pictures of myself. I confess that I like taking pictures of myself. Actually all girls likes taking pictures of themselves, we can't help it. It's in our nature. And I bet the guys actually likes to do the same thing, but they're just too shy to tell the world about it. Speaking of sharing the pictures with the world, and yes I guess you are now familiar with these photos because I post them on the Social Media. Some people posts their photos to get compliments, but I like to get feedbacks, either if they're good or bad ones. Because if we never get bad feedbacks, we can never be the perfect one.

By the way, this is what I like to do. Once every two months, I like getting ready and dressed up to go outside to take pictures! I think it's a weird hobby, but I agree with the statement "Your life should not be boring". It means that we've gotta do what makes ourselves happy. And this activity is what makes me happy. Every time I finish this activity, I just feel so relaxed and feel so good about myself. It all started when I got my first magazine when I was grade 4. I was looking at the pages and found a great photo shoot of fashion. I thought it was so fabulous and I was thinking to myself, "Why not make one?" so I looked up the process of the photo shoot, and after I got the whole concept, I apply the concept to form a new photo shoot. About the background, yes, I was posing in front of my dad's bird cages. I decided to do it outdoor and that was what I got, I don't really have much spaces around my house, basically they're just gardens and the neighbors are gonna stare if I took it outside, because let's face it, it's not a normal activity.

But so far, this is what I enjoyed. My dream career is not to be a model, but it's just something I enjoy doing. A lot of people enjoy music, they play guitar as well, but they're not taking it as their career.

My First Experience: Runway

About a few months ago, I think it was the most amazing day of the month. It all started when I finally opened my Facebook after such a long time. Then I saw that there was one Inbox, I was so excited because I usually get notifications from people who are inviting me to give them points for the games. But when I saw that it's from my senior, Gaby, I realized that It was something important. I opened the Inbox and it was in invitation to be one of her model. I was so excited and I really looked forward to it. So I agreed and after a few days, we were rehearsing for the runway walk in Amartha Hall, I was little bit shy but then Gaby told me to give the audience a better pose. It was my first ever runway walk, I was so afraid, but yet excited. Then later on 'the' day, Gaby gave me the dress that I'm going to wear, her fashion line was fabulous, it was the mixture of the culture of Indonesia and the modern era. The fashion line was called... "Revolution". She is such a great designer.

And then when we got in the backstage, they got amazing accessories, the backstage was like the real backstage of a phenomenal show. The 11th graders did an amazing job on it, then her friend wanted to see our walk and we did it, and he said it was good. Then we tried out the accessories and Gaby did our makeups, she's such an expert in everything. After a few minutes of waiting in backstage with the other models, and then we got to do our walk on the runway, the other models was so confident and they could walk really good, and finally it was my turn. I walked to the front, strike a few poses, and my friends from the grade started to scream my name and then I started to gain more confidence, it was actually dark and foggy, all I could see was the big spotlight and the night was so phenomenal, the 11th graders were such good party planners. And then when I finished my runway walk, some of my teachers were giggling, I think it's because they always pictured me as a little girl sitting at the back of the class and maybe it surprised them that their students actually got to walk, doing what she never normally do. After I got in the backstage again, my friends were hugging me and they complimented me, and until now on, I think I'm not a good model on the runway walk, but I will try and actually facing the things that we never do is such  good opportunity to face the fears.

September Playlist

Well, first of all, this isn't the genre of my blog. But then, we can possibly relate music to everything. Even nowadays some music can make you feel like you're in a forrest, they also got techno music which is related to technologies and more. I think that the world got everything we want. We just haven't found them... yet. I think the songs below are the song that you'd get addicted to. Their contents are appropriate by the way, they're mostly about life, the struggles and about what we want to do.
