Report on the Volupides Case

Report on the Volupides Case

To the Chief of Investigation,
Ms. Megan Hoddinott

At 1.10 am, 16th of october 1997, a call from Jasmeen Boulevard, house number 12, Cikarang, East side of Bekasi, Indonesia, named Queenie Volupides that there was an accident involving her husband, named Arthur Volupides and claiming that he passed away because of an accident.

We arrived at Queenie Volupides house at 1.45, 35 minutes after the call. We found out that Arthur’s body was lying at the bottom of the stairs, facing up. With a glass in his hand facing up, wearing tuxedo and a robe. Queenie was standing beside Arthur with a terrified face. We also found out that the stove was on and food was being cooked.

We asked Queenie about what happened and she claimed that, Queenie’s friends got to the Volupides house to get another drink after they went to the country club. They arrived about ten minutes after Queenie. Queenie met them at the door and finally she said, “Something terrible happened. Arthur slipped and fell on the stairs. He was coming down for another drink - he still had the glass in his hand - and I think he’s dead. Oh, my God - what shall I do?”

The autopsy conducted later concluded that Arthur had died from a wound on the head and confirmed that he’d been drunk.

We’ve found a lot of evidence that doesn’t supports Queenie’s answer. The first one, she said that “he still had the glass in his hand”. As a rule, when a person falls down holding a fragile object, usually the object will break. The glass in his hand’s still in a good condition, and we think it doesn’t supports Queenie's answer. Second, the glass is also still in Arthur’s hand. When you fall, usually you let go of what you’re holding and try to grab something near to hold on to. Third, the stove is on. When people cook, usually they cook at normal times, not during midnight.

Fourth, the objects on the wall aren’t misplaced. When people fall down, usually they will try to grab hold of something reachable. Fifth, the carpet on the stairs is not messed up. When people fall down the stairs (carpet covered), usually the carpet will get messed up. The carpet’s still in a perfect condition. Sixth, there are no paramedics present. When a person finds someone who needs help, usually they’ll call for help. The last one, Arthur’s lying up on his back with face-up. When people fall running down the stairs, they usually fall and land ck of the face-first.

The conclusion and recommendation for is that the police or paramedics should research more on this case. Because we think what Queenie said doesn’t support the evidence, so we think she’s lying. We really need to investigate more.

We speculate that Queenie is not telling the truth. Back to the evidences, someone is not cooking in a normal time. Queenie could possibly hit Arthur with the back of the cooking pan while Arthur was going up, because hitting someone with a pan won’t cause someone to bleed except to give them a wound. From this speculating, we can tell one thing, that Queenie was cooking to hide the mark at the back of the pan. Then, she could put the glass on his hand and say that he went for another drink. Arthur was wearing a tux and a robe, it is possible that they were both going to the country club. These speculations are just temporary, we, as the investigators of this case will look for more clues and reveal the real condition.
